Christmas morning, had me feeling even more miserable. Any doubts as to whether I had a cold was confirmed. Even although the temperature was not too cool, I had the shivers and sat on the floor of my apartment, with my back against the heater, while my friend cooked an omelette for what would be our Christmas lunch. Difficulties with the blog site, got me in a cranky mood, unable to upload photos, – J’en ai marre, as they would say in French; I had had enough of it!
Later we ventured out to a nearby cafe; Etoile Manquette. My mates; Kamel and Everest, welcomed my friend with a warm welcome, we installed ourselves on stools, up to the zinc bar and there we spent our Christmas night.
Biche, was the plat du jour, the dish of the day. It seemed strange to be eating deer on Christmas night, as if I was eating one of Santa’s reindeers. My friend joked; at least all the presents would have been delivered by now and his work was done for the year.
My friend was encouraged to try to speak French and it turned into a fun night, teaching English and French and a few laughs at the bar.
It didn’t snow as I hoped, I have a miserable cold and technical blogging issues but I guess if you are going to have a cold and a few computer setbacks, what better place to do it. I will always have Paris.
A few snaps from our early Christmas morning walk …
